World Dance Collective to Perform in Munich Festival

The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. During this festival, the ensemble will debut a mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War,” according to artistic director Teodosi Teodosiev, the founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective.

Teodosiev stated that the performance encompasses more than just dance, representing a return to cultural roots and inherent strength. He acknowledged the invitation to Munich, extended by the Lazarka ensemble, and praised Plamen Petkov, the artistic director and organizer of this year’s festival. Teodosiev expressed gratitude to all the dancers for their commitment, noting that the Bulgarian spirit transcends geographical boundaries.

The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. The 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles, with an expected attendance of more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
