World Dance Collective to Perform in Munich Festival

The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, which will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. During the event in Munich, the ensemble plans to premiere a mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War,” according to Gurbetchii’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev. Teodosiev is the founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective.

He stated that the performance encompasses more than just dance, noting that it represents a return to fundamental roots, strength, and identity, regardless of geographical location. Teodosiev expressed gratitude for the invitation to Munich, extended by the Lazarka ensemble, and acknowledged Plamen Petkov, who is the artistic director and organizer of this year’s festival. He also thanked the dancers for their dedication, citing their efforts as proof that the Bulgarian spirit transcends borders.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups within the world collective.
