The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will join the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh annual gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, stated that their performance will depict an elderly couple recalling their youth and love while anticipating their daughter’s wedding. Topalska explained, “Imagine an elderly couple who are about to marry their daughter, and while they are waiting for the arrival of the matchmakers, they are immersed in memories of their own youth and how they fell in love and got married.” She emphasized that the performance aims to convey the message that love is eternal, as “if you don’t have love, warmth and the person next to you with whom you can share your old times, everything else is not worth a penny.”
The Severnyatsi dance formation, established in 2015 and led by Galya Marinova, will participate alongside the Veselyatsite group.
Topalska noted that this joint effort provides an opportunity to unite the ensembles’ efforts and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. The choreography resulted from a collaboration between the dancers of both groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov. The festival, which focuses on amateur folk ensembles performing outside Bulgaria, was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France.
The 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 attendees. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event.
