Folk Group from Madrid to Perform Together with Severnyatsi Folk Dance Formation from Segovia in Munich

The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will participate alongside the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh edition of the traveling gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, explained that their performance recreates a narrative about an elderly couple who revisit memories of their youth and romance while awaiting their daughter’s wedding. Topalska elaborated that the piece captures the feeling of anticipation, allowing the couple to immerse themselves in their own early love stories.

She emphasized that the performance aims to convey the message that while life is transient, love remains eternal, asserting that emotional connection is invaluable. The Severnyatsi dance formation, led by Galya Marinova and established in 2015, will join the effort. Topalska noted that this joint participation offers an opportunity to unite the efforts of both ensembles and present Bulgarian culture to a global audience.

The choreography resulted from a collaborative effort involving dancers from both participating groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov. The festival, organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria, was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France. The 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event.
