The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. This event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform as a kamerná formation.
The performance will feature a segment from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, described as a piece with significant stage presence and emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who remains both its artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the group has become recognized for organizing major annual festivals within Cyprus.
A core objective of Sovatchii is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age groups. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
The upcoming 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
