Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which is currently underway. A Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador to Croatia Iva Kruleva, is among the attending participants, including representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises. The city has implemented special traffic regulations to accommodate the event, as noted by Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic.
Given that the tourist season has commenced, the airport anticipates a high volume of visitors alongside aircraft carrying summit attendees. Police have been deployed to manage traffic flow, and residents have been advised to anticipate potential congestion. The arrival of numerous high-ranking officials is also expected to draw international media coverage.
The 3SI serves as a framework for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black seas. These nations include Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, and others. Strategic partners are Germany, the US, and Japan, while Ukraine and Moldova are associate members.
The initiative’s goal is to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure. The 2026 edition of the summit, hosted by Croatia, will concentrate on strengthening regional resilience and linking the participating countries to global economic corridors. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator for the 3SI, indicated that the event aims to bolster North-South connections.
She stated that the attendance is diverse, with companies from 45 countries participating, making it an initiative with global business relevance. Several heads of state and government from various nations are scheduled to attend the summit.
