The National Council of the “Yes, Bulgaria” party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria coalition with Continue the Change, has mandated the party to draft a comprehensive, formal coalition agreement for its partners. According to the party’s press office, this initiative aims to establish clear governing structures and decision-making protocols, as the current coalition operates without such a framework. The proposed document is set to detail coalition management bodies, decision-making rules, parliamentary group guidelines, candidate nomination criteria, and a unified staffing policy, while also aiming to eliminate party quotas in future elections within Bulgaria.
Furthermore, the Council tasked the party with developing a “roadmap for the creation of a unified democratic centre-right political entity,” which may involve parties outside the existing alliance. The decision also directed the Executive Council to begin preparations for upcoming presidential elections, focusing on securing support for a common democratic centre-right candidate. Specific priorities were established for “Yes, Bulgaria” Members of Parliament in the new parliament.
These include maintaining a clear opposition stance against excessive concentration of power, advocating for right-wing fiscal measures in the state budget draft, and introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for selecting Supreme Judicial Council members. Other key legislative focuses involve advancing anti-corruption measures, calling for the removal of state security protection for prominent political figures, and implementing healthcare reforms. These reforms include requiring private hospitals to undergo public tenders for medicines and establishing SMS notifications for health services.
