, Bulgaria Pushes for Formal Coalition Agreement of Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria and Common Centre-Right Presidential Candidate

The National Council of the “Yes, Bulgaria” party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria coalition with Continue the Change, has mandated the proposal of a formal coalition agreement to its partners. The party’s press office stated that this move addresses the current operational vacuum, as the existing coalition lacks a comprehensive governing document. The proposed agreement is designed to establish clear decision-making mechanisms, define coalition management bodies, outline parliamentary work principles, set criteria for candidate nominations, and implement a unified personnel policy.

Furthermore, the document seeks to eliminate party quotas in future electoral cycles. A significant focus of the decision is the development of a “roadmap for the creation of a unified democratic centre-right political entity,” which may involve parties outside the current alliance in bulgaria. Additionally, the Council instructed the Executive Council to begin preparations for the upcoming presidential elections, aiming to secure support for a common democratic centre-right candidate swiftly.

The decision also established specific legislative priorities for “Yes, Bulgaria” Members of Parliament in the new parliament. These priorities include maintaining a clear opposition stance against excessive power concentration and proposing right-wing fiscal measures within the draft state budget. Policy goals also encompass introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for selecting members of the Supreme Judicial Council.

Other key objectives involve advancing anti-corruption legislation, calling for the removal of state security protection for prominent political figures, and implementing healthcare reforms for the National Health Insurance Fund, such as mandating public tenders for medicines in private hospitals.
