Commission Praised by International Observers for Transparent Vote

The Central Election Commission (CEC) concluded a meeting with a team from the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on Monday. In a press release, the cec reported that international observers commended the Commission on the organization of the April 19 parliamentary elections, assessing the day as transparent and calm, with no significant violations observed. In their preliminary findings, the international mission assessed the CEC’s performance favorably.

Observers acknowledged the efforts of the election administration, noting the high level of public confidence, comprehensive preparation across all levels, and a transparent certification process for voting machinery. Furthermore, the successful large-scale public awareness campaign, which included targeted outreach to young voters, was highlighted. The positive evaluation extended to the CEC’s utilization of digital tools.

Specific commendations were given to a mobile application designed for section commissions to complete tally sheets, which enhanced accuracy, and an interactive map of voting sections that improved information accessibility and transparency. During discussions, observers addressed matters concerning the work of section election commissions and result reporting, expressing support for proposed amendments to the legal framework put forth by the Commission. According to the international observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), the snap elections were conducted efficiently with high voter turnout.

They specifically noted the strong organizational structure and active civic participation, despite a decision by Parliament to limit the number of sections in non-EU countries to twenty each, excluding diplomatic and consular posts.
