Commission Praised by International Observers for Transparent Vote

The Central Election Commission (CEC) held a final meeting with a team from the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on Monday. According to a press release from the CEC, the international observers commended the Commission for organizing the April 19 parliamentary elections, assessing the process as transparent and noting the calm passage of election day without significant violations. In their preliminary findings, the international mission provided positive assessments of the CEC’s performance.

Observers acknowledged the efforts of the CEC and the election administration, citing high levels of public trust, effective preparation across all levels, and a transparent certification process for voting machines. Furthermore, the large-scale public awareness campaign, which included outreach to young voters, was highlighted. The utility of the CEC’s digital tools was also noted.

These included a mobile application for section commissions to complete tally sheets, which reportedly improved accuracy, and an interactive map of voting sections that enhanced information accessibility and transparency. During discussions, observers addressed matters concerning section election commissions and result reporting, offering support for the CEC’s proposed amendments to the legal framework. Speaking at a press conference on April 20, international observers confirmed that the snap parliamentary elections were conducted transparently and efficiently, alongside a high voter turnout.

Observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), who monitored the vote, noted the strong organization of responsible institutions and active civic participation, despite a decision by Parliament to limit the number of sections in non-EU countries to 20 each, excluding diplomatic missions and consular posts.
