Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected president of MINDS, the international media innovation network. Flem succeeds the former chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency, whose term concluded recently. The election took place on Thursday afternoon during MINDS’ annual general meeting held in Vienna.

Kiril Valchev, Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), congratulated Flem on her election. As part of the ceremony, Valchev presented Flem with the English-language edition of the book The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, a publication marking the 125th anniversary of BTA. BTA joined MINDS on April 23, 2022, following a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly during the organization’s 32nd conference in Helsinki.

This addition positioned Bulgaria’s national news agency alongside major international news providers, including Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and Associated Press. Currently, BTA maintains agreements with 16 agencies that are members of MINDS. These partnerships include Anadolu Agency, ANP, Athens-Macedonian News Agency, ANSA, AFP, AP, Austria Presse Agentur, Belga, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, EFE, Kyodo News, LETA, Lusa, Polish Press Agency, Press Trust of India, and Reuters.

Flem’s leadership continues to strengthen collaboration within the global news sector.
