For Grande Partenza Event of 109th Giro d’Italia Hosted by Bulgaria Go as Planned

Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports, Dimitar Iliev, convened an online working meeting with representatives from the institutions tasked with organizing the initial three stages of the 2026 Giro d’Italia cycling race in Bulgaria. According to the Ministry of Sports, the meeting addressed the current organizational progress, coordination among participating bodies, and upcoming key activities. During the session, Minister Iliev reviewed the readiness of all involved parties, stressing that effective inter-institutional coordination is crucial for the successful staging of the event.

He acknowledged the commitment shown by all contributors, stating that while preparing for an event of this magnitude presents a significant challenge, the collective efforts of the institutions ensure continued progress. He affirmed that full coordination would be maintained to guarantee the success of the competition. Participants confirmed that preparations are advancing according to the established schedule, with necessary measures being implemented for security, logistics, and overall organization.

Discussions also covered safety protocols for both participants and spectators, alongside the optimal conduct of the race. The Giro d’Italia is scheduled to commence on May 8 in Nessebar on the Black Sea. The route will subsequently pass through Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, and Plovdiv before concluding in Sofia on May 10.
