BTL Industries Bulgaria was named Investor of the Year 2025 at the 20th annual awards ceremony hosted by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA). During the official event at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award and the “Golden Bull” statuette to the company’s CEO, Veselin Karavasilev. The recognition was given for the company’s EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv in 2025, which resulted in the creation of over 700 jobs, highlighting its contribution to Bulgaria’s economic landscape.
BTL Industries Bulgaria, which has operated in the Bulgarian market since 1998, maintains a research and development center in Sofia. With over 850 employees, it is a significant employer in the Plovdiv region and exports medical devices to over 120 countries across six continents. Karavasilev noted that the award acknowledged long-term commitment, stating that the company, which began with a sales office, has become BTL’s sole production base globally due to the favorable economic environment and skilled workforce in Bulgaria.
Other major winners showcased diverse investments across various industries. Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria received the Greenfield Investment award for its EUR 42 million investment in Parvomay, creating over 170 jobs. Nestle Bulgaria was recognized for its EUR 44.63 million investment in Sofia, adding 119 jobs.
Festo Bulgaria received the Innovative Business award for a EUR 40 million investment across multiple locations, generating 140 jobs. The Investor of the Year initiative aims to honor entities contributing to Bulgaria’s development, job creation, and innovation. The ceremony also included honorary plaques for contributions to regional development and infrastructure, marking the IBA’s 30th anniversary.
