Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total of 386 kg to claim the gold medal. In the snatch discipline, Nasar confirmed his gold medal by successfully lifting 176 kg after an initial opening attempt at 170 kg. Although he attempted a world record lift of 183 kg on his final attempt, it was unsuccessful. In the clean and jerk, Nasar’s first lift of 210 kg was initially questioned by the judges and required a review.
Following this, he successfully lifted the same weight on his second attempt. For his final effort in the clean and jerk, Nasar attempted 223 kg in pursuit of a world record total, but this lift was not completed. The competition saw Armenia’s Ara Aganyan finish in second place with a total of 381 kg.
