Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria saw a deceleration in growth during March, reaching 8.1% year-on-year, according to data published by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index in industry declined by 0.8% compared to the preceding month, it remained 8.1% higher than the level recorded in March of the previous year. Analyzing the month-to-month shifts, the NSI reported that lower prices were observed in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas, which decreased by 7.7%.

Conversely, the mining industry recorded a 3.3% increase, and manufacturing saw a rise of 2.2%. On an annual basis, price growth in March showed substantial increases across key sectors. The mining industry experienced a 40.4% annual rise, manufacturing increased by 4.9%, and the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas rose by 0.8% compared to the previous year.

For context, the beginning of the year saw industrial producer prices increase by 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year. The preceding month, February, reflected a slowing trend, with prices rising by 0.1% monthly and 8.4% year-on-year.
