Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova continues her visit to Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commences in Yerevan on Monday, according to the President’s press secretariat. President Iotova is scheduled to attend a high-level event concerning the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This initiative represents a strategic effort designed to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her participation in the forum, President Iotova plans to address themes related to transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. Furthermore, she is slated to take part in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs” as part of the Summit proceedings. On the sidelines, she is scheduled to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit is co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as reported by EU institutions. Previously, on Sunday, President Iotova and Mr. Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia.
President Iotova also visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the celebrated Bulgarian poet. During these discussions, President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, discussed methods to deepen cooperation between the two nations. President Iotova emphasized the critical role of the European Political Community in enhancing connectivity and promoting relations across the continent, particularly concerning the region’s energy infrastructure, including the gas supply routes.
