Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova’s visit to Armenia continues for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday, according to the President’s press secretariat. During the summit, President Iotova is scheduled to take part in a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to improve energy security and diversify natural gas supplies throughout Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.

Separately, on the sidelines of the summit, the president is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The European Political Community Summit is jointly chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as confirmed by EU institutions.

The diplomatic engagements began on Sunday, when President Iotova and Mr. Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. President Iotova also visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the notable Bulgarian poet.

During these discussions, President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, explored avenues to bolster cooperation between the two nations. President Iotova stressed the critical role of the European Political Community in enhancing connectivity and promoting relations throughout Europe, particularly concerning energy infrastructure like the gas corridor.
