Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit, which commenced on Tuesday. A Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador to Croatia Iva Kruleva, is among the attendees and includes representatives from Bulgarian small and medium-sized enterprises. The city is prepared for the event, according to Dubrovnik Mayor Mato Frankovic, who noted that special traffic regulations have been implemented.

With the tourist season underway, the airport anticipates both a large influx of tourists and numerous aircraft carrying summit participants. Police have been deployed to manage traffic flow, and residents have been advised to anticipate potential congestion. The high profile of the gathering is also expected to draw international media coverage.

The 3SI serves as a framework for political and economic collaboration among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas: Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye, while Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro are associate members. The initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity through investments in digital, energy, and transport infrastructure.

The 2026 edition, hosted by Croatia, will focus on regional resilience and digital transformation, connecting 3SI nations to global corridors like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator for the 3SI, highlighted the importance of the summit in combining capital and efforts for connectivity projects, noting that participants are arriving from 45 countries. Among the political guests are heads of state and government from several nations, alongside other high-level officials.
