World Dance Collective to Perform in Munich Festival

The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, taking place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. During the festival, the ensemble will premiere its mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War,” according to artistic director Teodosi Teodosiev, who is also the founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective. Teodosiev stated that the performance embodies more than just dance; he described it as “a return to the roots, to strength, and to who we are, wherever we are in the world.” He expressed gratitude to the Lazarka ensemble, which invited the group, and to Plamen Petkov, the artistic director and organizer of this year’s festival.

Teodosiev concluded by thanking the dancers for their commitment, noting that “the Bulgarian spirit knows no borders.”

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate that the 11th edition in Munich will host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
