-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk ensemble Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event is set to take place from May 15 to 17 at the BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, the Sovatchii will perform as a камерна formation.

The performance will feature a segment from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, a piece noted for its strong stage presence and emotional depth. Teodosiev, who founded the Sovatchii on October 1, 2015, also serves as its artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the group has become a significant organizer of major annual festivals within Cyprus.

Its core mission involves uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians representing various age demographics. The festival itself is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

For the 11th iteration in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance exceeding 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event, responsible for presenting all participating groups.
