-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform as a kamerná formation.

Their presentation will feature a segment of ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, described as a piece with significant stage presence and emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who also serves as the group’s artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the formation has become actively involved in organizing major annual festivals across Cyprus.

A core objective of the group is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age demographics. The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural event in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

The 11th Munich edition anticipates attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participants.
