Folk Dance Ensemble SamoDivi to Perform in Munich

The Innsbruck-based folk dance ensemble SamoDivi is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at Munich’s BMW Park from May 15 to May 17. This marks the third consecutive time the ensemble will perform, where they plan to showcase “Zaludo Libe Kitka ne Davaydance.”

SamoDivi members emphasized that for them, folklore transcends mere performance; it represents a deep cultural bond and a source of unity, irrespective of their global locations.

The group has been actively preparing for the festival, rehearsing twice weekly while focusing on costume details and choreography refinement. The festival itself is dedicated to amateur folklore ensemble groups performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural event in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

Organizers anticipate a significant turnout for the Munich event, expecting over 100 dance groups and an attendance exceeding 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the festival, responsible for presenting all participating groups. SamoDivi’s participation contributes to the international showcase of Bulgarian cultural heritage through traditional dance.

The event provides a major platform for cultural exchange, drawing attention to the enduring appeal of Balkan folk traditions across the diaspora.
