Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total of 386 kg to claim the gold medal. Nasar established an early lead during the snatch portion of the competition with a lift of 176 kg, followed by a 210 kg lift in the clean and jerk.
His performances in both disciplines were decisive, resulting in a commanding overall victory at the European event. The medal standings saw Ara Aganyan of Armenia finish in second place with a total of 381 kg, and Romain Imadouchene of France take the bronze medal with 370 kg. During the snatch, Nasar confirmed his gold medal lift with a successful 176 kg attempt after opening at 170 kg.
In the clean and jerk, his initial 210 kg lift was invalidated by the judges following a review, but he successfully lifted the same weight on his second attempt. For his final lift in the clean and jerk, Nasar attempted 223 kg, an attempt intended to set a world record total, but this lift was unsuccessful. Overall, the Nasar performance solidified his status as a top competitor in the sport at this European championship.
