Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria moderated in March, reaching an increase of 8.1% year-on-year, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). While the overall Producer Price Index (PPI) saw a monthly decrease of 0.8% in March 2026 compared to the previous month, the annual rate remained significantly elevated at 8.1% above the level recorded in March 2025. Analyzing the sectoral shifts for March, the NSI noted varied price movements.
Specifically, the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas experienced a decline of 7.7% compared to February. Conversely, price increases were reported in the mining industry, which rose by 3.3%, and in manufacturing, which increased by 2.2% month-over-month. On an annual basis, the trends reflected continued sectoral variation.
In March, the mining industry posted a substantial annual increase of 40.4%, while manufacturing saw an annual rise of 4.9%. Price growth for the electricity, heat, and gas sector was modest, increasing by 0.8% compared to the same month in the previous year. For context, the beginning of the year showed a notable upward trend, with industrial producer prices rising 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year.
The preceding month, February, indicated a slower pace of inflation, with monthly gains of 0.1% and an annual increase of 8.4%.
